Lennox Lewis was ducking Klitschko the whole time. Lewis was supposed to fight Kirk Johnson, but since Johnson pulled out, he HAD to fight V. Klitschko(he was the mandatory challenger for like 2 years anyway). So, yeah, Vitali lost by a cut. Vitali was still game enough to fight. Sad it had to be ended because of that gash which seemed dangerous. Lewis has been knocked out cold and got his rematch. Lewis said he'd give Vitali a rematch if he beats Johnson. He blew out Johnson in 2 rounds, then Lewis retires. Lennox was scared to lose to Vitali and everybody knows it. Vitali couldn't avenge his losses cuz he didn't get the chance to.

Unlike Lewis, Vitaly has more pride then suing his past opponents to get a rematch.

And the better Vitaly will perform in the future, the bigger the pressure will be on Lewis.

Why is he ducking Chris Byrd then?

Lewis was catching up the scorecars were 3 rounds to 2 in favour of Vitali on all cards so an old, fat out of shape Lewis was still in the fight
Vitali was up 4 rounds to 2 on the cards after 6. That means Lennox would either have to win 5 of the last 6, or stop Vitali, or win 4 of 6 and knock him down. Given the shape Lennox was in and Vitali's chin, neither was very likely. That being said, Lewis won the fight and still fought well for a 37 year old fighter.

The ref and the corner men are there to protect the fighter even from himself in some cases. I agree with this stoppage. The cut was terrible and you could fit an entire thumb inside of it. I don't care what anyone says about the fight Lewis one fair and square. Vitali fought hard and was ahead on the score cards but one punch could have seriously hurt him. The amount of blood getting into his eye was also a factor. George Forman even said it in the fight that it should have been sotpped earlier....Lefty

Listen fact of the matter is Lewis realized what it akes most boxers to get a beating to realize. He was out of shape he was past his prime and he would be beat by more inshape and younger fighters. Can't blame the man for that can you? The main point of this thread is that Lewis won the fight on a stoppage whether you or I or Vitali agrees it is in the booms. the L is there for Vitali....Lefty
