Everyone gimme a Welcome Back, Some ramblings of mine!!!

First off, I have been missing all the convos and banter on this site for awhile, I have been moving to my new place, located in Prov. Anyone close more then welcome to swing by and enjoy any of the fights coming up!

Now, first an foremost I wanna star off by talking about Sergio Martinez. Man, did he look good or what!?!?! He used his great jab and speed to keep a very rugged Bunema off him all night. He pressed Bunema all night and pushed him aorund the ring. A lot of times people with solid records come across the ponds and there record doesn't shjow what type of fighter they truly are, ala Gianluca Branco, who was dismantled by Gatti and then later Miguel Cotto, but Sergio showed what he had, and it looked great. At times, and it's a lil awkward to say this, it reminded me of Roy Jones. Using those stinging pot shots to aear down and break down his opponent. Now of course, he utilizes his jab more so then Jones has ever done in 85% of his fights, but just the way he was potshotting all night just rubbed me in that direction. I would reckon he'd have a hell of a chance beating just about anyone at 154. Verno would be outworked and it would look a lot like it did against Bunema, and Forrest would be as well, although he showed some great persaverance a few weeks back. Spinks would be a tough fight, as he is for just about anyone at 154, but Sergio has the skill set to beat a slickster in Spinks. Pressure, pressure, and a great jab. Can't wait to him him back in the ring.

Chad Dawson made me a believer last night. He just absolutely stole the show and made Tarver looked like a beat up has been. I htought Tarver would give him some problems and in rounds 3 and 5 he did, but after that it was all Dawson. He believed in himself and his ability and it really showed. And this once again goes all the way back to his younger days, he looked hungry and it showed as he carried Tarver for 12 rounds, ( Props on some good ole Conneticut trainers during Chad's younger years). Dawson is going to be a force, and I think he learned to take a punch. Tarver hit him with a few flush shots and Dawson didnt budge. A puncher never looses his punch, and Tarver is a puncher. Dawson rolled all night and took a lot of steam of Tarver shots, catching many flurries with his elbows. I would favor Dawson over any fighter right now at 175, I think that Hopkins would be his toughest opponent, it hurts to say, but Jones would be throughly dominated by Dawson at this point in his career, and Calzaghe would also be on the losing end of a UD. And I think he has to answer Glencoffe Johnson in a rematch and give him his oppurtunity. I think Chad would win a lopsided decision in that fight as well.As the ol,d saying goes, Chad would wint 9 outta 10 times they fought, maybe the 10th time would be a close disputed decision, but Dawson is by far the superior fighter. Chad looked great and thats all I hafta say about that.

    Thanks guys!!

    Welcome back dude.

I agree also, I have a hard time picking anyone to beat Chad at 175 right now. He looks the goods.

welcome back 'dutchie.' i agree. chad is the 175 king. i also agree with hopkins being the only one who could trouble him because of his counter punching skill and heavy right hand (mixed with chad's succeptibility to well-placed rights and chinniness when they get through), though i think chad would prevail against Hops at this stage in the old man's career. chad would easily outbox glen with a new strategy in their rematch if it happens, having learned that slugging it out with the road warrior is not the best idea. the old man has a granite chin, can punch, but struggles against good movers/boxers since he ends up doing more following then cutting off the ring. i also believe that chad's too big, skilled, strong and fast to be overcome by calzaghe's inaccurate slap flurries. especially when he has to the speed and firepower to land his own combos of actual sharp punches.

martinez also looked quite sick. right up our alley. slick, fast, flashy, with style and flair. i have become a fan!
