Dawson needs to get rid of Shaw......

and get a better promoter. He needs to be on hbo, and get the hype he deserves. Shaw will keep him out of the top level he could vault to with arum, or gbp. The kid has arrived, and now needs to get his name on the top of the sport!

His name IS at the top of the sport. If he goes on HBO, they'll act like he's just now up and coming, feed him a can on BAD, then put him in showcases. If he gets a real opponent, they'll put it on PPV.

Showtime has had Dawson on since he was a prospect. Now he's headlining major shows against live competition.

I hardily think a 40 year old Tarver is good competition for Dawson. i would like to see him in there against live fighters. Tarver has been dead and stinking since Hopkins threw him around the ring. Lets see Dawson face a Pavlik or Frotch. Someone who is also in their 20's and has something to offer him vs his great speed.....Lefty

Pavlik's the wrong weight class; Froch has already been on Showtime once. Tarver held two light heavyweight belts.

Look at what we got when Calzaghe beat Lacy on Showtime - we got Calzaghe against Bika and Manfredo on HBO, then we got Kessler but now we have to pay for a (just as old as Tarver) Jones battle on TV.

Showtime has better boxing COMPETITION than HBO consistently...

Showtime introduced Hatton to America through a ton of shows too.

Hatton fought over and over and over again on Showtime, including the highlight of his career vs. Tszyu.

HBO gives him Urango, Collazo then makes us pay for him vs. Mayweather, then dumps him when he fights Lazcano...

i agree with that, but they are not exposing these guys to nearly as big an audience as hbo, and dawson deserves to be recognized by a casual fan,and bigger paydays. he has now earned it. i love sho, but the kid will not do as well overall with them as hbo. but thats not even the major issue imo, he needs to lose that scumbag shaw.

Shaw is doing a pretty good job with him although signing with GBP would open a lot of doors at HBO for him, which means he would get more publicity which would make him more money so GBP or Arum would be a good next step for him to gain more recognition.

I wonder how many fewer subscribers Showtime has than HBO. I bet it's not all that massive. But for boxing fans' sake, I hope Chad stays a Showtime fighter for a long time. I guarantee he gets paid his next time out...

Shaw is a scumbag but he's in good with Showtime right now
