speed - dawson not by alot but imo he is quicker, thanks partly due to calzaghe getting older,

power/strength - again dawson and this time by a slightly better margin, he is the bigger man and has some real snap and intent behind his punches

stamina - joe and imo joe wins this by mile, dawson took a handful of rounds off vs tarver against joe he simply won't be allowed to do that - calzaghe forces his opponents to fight at a higher pace than they're used to.

chin - again joe and by landslide, dawson isn't necessarily chinny but he has question marks over his chin, joe has a great chin and has only been down a few times when he comes forward, vs hopkins he was knocked down but i still think it was more of a psuh when joe was off balance from the inital punch.

ring smart/counterpunching/adapting - again joe, i was impressed with dawson last night, he switched his attack to the body in the middle rounds instead of just pumping out his jab and it was a move that wasn't put forward by his trainer, also dawsons speed gives him the edge in terms of counterpunching, however joe has the best ring smarts in the buisness he can adapt better than anyone else.

now i know this is only when you list their assets on paper and fights aren't won on paper but i just think that joe holds an edge over most fighters with his ring smarts. if they were to fight i cant see dawson getting any rounds off to take a breather like he did vs tarver and i sure as hell can't see him knocking out calzaghe maybe a KD but even then i doubt it.

imo it will be interesting to see how joe does against RJJ and his speed. if joe adapts well to a fighter that is quicker than him then i dont see him having many problems with dawsons speed. dawson did however do very well last night and hopefully will go on and unify the division once the likes of zaghe, RJJ and hopkins have retired.
Chin? Calzaghe has been knocked down by way lesser opposition then Dawson. Dawson has never been knocked out or really even hurt so I don't know how you can say there are questions about his chin. Dawson is way too much for Calzaghe. Hes faster then Calzaghe, He's a southpaw like Calzaghe, He's bigger then Calzaghe, He's stronger then Calzaghe and Chad will be alot more aggressive with Calzaghe because Calzaghe isn't a power pu ncher. And let Cazlaghe try that windmill slappy **** and he'll get some swift uppercuts to the chin and be OUT.

      STANDING UP CLAPPING

      Dawson would completely ruin Joe.

I would pick Chad Dawson by TKO since I think Chad Dawson would overwhelm Calzaghe into quiting the fight. So I think Chad Dawson by TKO victory.

calzaghe has been down twice once by byron mitchell and once by hopkins as explained before i think the hopkins KD wasn't really a KD but more of a push by hopkins when joe was slightly off balance, the byron mitchell KD was a real KD. joe got tagged while coming in, he has poor balance when he has to be the agressor yet in neither case was he actually hurt, in fact iv followed joes career througout and iv only seen his legs shake and seen joe hurt once.

as for dawson i have a confession to make i havent seen alot of him but iv read a few bits and bobs about him and alot of posters on here say that he doesn't have a great chin. iv seen him KD'ed by adamek as well but like i said chin-wise i dont think dawson can compete with zaghe - if in doubt you can make a poll later.

true dawson is bigger, strong, more powerful and younger but i remember people saying the same thing about the fights with lacey and kessler, besides joe is smart enough and imo still hungry, he still feels as though he has a point to prove.

calzaghes is an extremely awkward fighter its hard to land a flurry on him, hopkins had success with single punches and roy ight be able to land slurries but imo dawsons doesn't have the handseed to be able to land anything more than 3/4 shots on joe.

as for chad being agressive well as mentioned before that would actually suit joe as joe boxes better when hes on the backfoot, its when hes the agressor that he has a poor balance and footwork. if chad comes forward it just makes joes night a whole lott easier, even if chad decides to play defense he comes out second best. there were times that dawson tried to play defence against tarver and it was as these points that tarver looked at his best.

if dawson covers up against joe he can expect a flurry and i dont think dawson is the type of fighter that counters through another fighters punches, i might be wrong but thats my gut feeling.

anyway i think dawson looked good last night but that was because tarver seemed sluggish and plodding - two things you cant accuse calzaghe of being.

I never saw Dawson fight. Calzaghe needs to make this fight as soon as possible before he gets too old.

****in hell this is incredible i cant believe what im reading - one good performance takes you from being a contender to being able to beat someone who may be the best p4p fighter in the world.

i think some people are still on a high from the fight and need a couple of days to realize that Tarver had an extremely lazy and sluggish night.

dawson did though show some silky skills, not falling for tarvers traps, showed he can execute a gameplan, keeping his focus and switched his attack to the body when he needed to.

improvements can still be made though: if he wasnts to beat the likes of palik or calzaghe he will have to learn to fight for the whole 12 rounds, its oay to take a break once in the mid rounds and save yourself for a big finish but imo dawson took 2/3 rounds off. also he doesn't seem to smart when he has to fight on the back foot but i see this only improving under the wing of mayweather snr.

are fans incapable of seeing a fighter for what he actually is?

The results of the poll just highlight how ridiculous NSB is. Christ talk about bandwagoners, the guy got beat by an ancient Glen Johnson, my word.

this forum disgusts me at times.

                    calzaghe by a landslide.

                    johnson beat dawson!
