Was Vitali's performance the best ever by a heavyweight?

Considering no other fighter has had as long a lay off as him, came back straight into a title fight without a tune up and schooled the recognised number 2 in the division at the time so much he quit on his stool! Thats pretty impressive

I'm not saying it makes him the best HW, but considering the circumstances its pretty damn impressive!

He was a 2 to 1 favorite though.

I take your points maybe I should have re-worded it to 'one' of the best ever.

But considering he was inactive for almost 4 years, against the number 2 in the division and beat him without breaking a sweat. Not many fighters would be capable of that. Even if the HW division is in a sorry state we'll be remembering that fight for a while, and we'll remember the intro forever!

            BUT
He's definitely the best current HW.
Wlad got knocked down three times by Peter. Look what Vitali did after a three year layoff.

Poll is pretty conclusive. No-one agrees.

Vitali looked great, part of it was because of his game plan, and part of it was because of Peter's lack of game plan. It wasn't a competitive fight and it was because of Sam Peter's fat ass. Its as if he trained to fight and stand in one spot for the entire fight.
