Floyd Mayweather: Not coming back for sure

Well you heard him say it during Tarver vs Dawson (I was rooting for Dawson so **** yeah). Floyd said it during the fight that he's not coming back. He's definitely staying retired. It kind of worried me to be honest, cos I don't know about you, but he sounded pretty damn sincere to me. What do you yall think? If he's being true, then he's a pretty good actor. Discuss.

Who would he fight if he came back?

I wish him well, boxing will move on without him, I see no reason to be worried.

Yeah, I can live without floyd, but can you honestly tell me that boxing is a better sport without him? Of course I'd like to see him come back and clean out one of the deepest divisions in boxing at welterweight (which I think he would). That would build a huge legacy for him AND make boxing a bigger draw to everyone.

The way he was acting was not good for the sport IMO, going out there and saying it's all about the money, having plans of rematching DLH and then rematching Hatton, throwing hundred dollar bills in the air weren't exactly projecting boxing in the best light. Of course I'd like to see him come back and fight the top guys at welterweight but he didn't do it then, I doubt he does it now or in the future.

As I said, I wish him well in retirement, I have nothing against him and boxing will move on, there'll be someone else.

Same way Tarver was at his best as this stage because he knows his body now? Or Evander Hollyfield would beat Foreman's record for the eldest HW champion? Or as Hoya is having it personal versus Pacquiao? Or like Forrest just had a bad night vs Mora the first time around and now he's his old self? Or maybe you think better of Bernard Hopkins' chances? Once a legend, now a stepping stone. Marquez, Casamayor and Campbell and also examples. Fact is, we already have too many over 30s people in boxing. People forget boxing is a young man's spots and if at 28 29 you're not at your very best (which doesnt mean you should have your first meaningful fight at that age!) you will never go anyway. In other words, people like the ones above and yes, also Mayweather, are done with boxing (or should be).

There is no better assured way to finish this dieing sport off than by having more of these old fighters coming back. Are you really thinking Mayweather would be challenging the new guys if he came back? Hell noooo! He would be another Hoya! How would you like 2 Hoyas in the sport? Taking on fight in which he has at least 60% of a chance of being victorious. Mayweather is saving boxing by staying out, better believe it!

So are you saying that Mayweather is too old? So basically you're saying Mayweather is out of his prime? The last fight I saw him in, I saw him DOMINATE a game Hatton that was SUPPOSED to be his greatest challenge and worst matchup ever in Floyd's career. And what did he do? Clean potshot knockout that made Hatton look just plain amateur. Shutout defense and clinical offense. You gotta be kidding if you think Floyd is past his prime. The man would clean out the welterweight division right now, cos if a bum like Margarito is the supposed number one, Floyd would make him look silly.
