Floyd Mayweather: Chad Dawson is the best P4P fighter right now!

I think you guys are underestimating Tarver & Johnson a bit. These guys are no slouches and at least one of them is elite. Save for Bernard Hopkins, Tarver has beaten every relevant LHW out there. In fact, he was ranked pound for pound up until the Hopkins loss. And I'm not sure what Glen Johnson has to do to earn some respect. The same people who argue that Johnson beat Dawson are the ones who minimize the fact that Johnson has been the victim of far worse decisions throughout his whole career. There's a reason why he's so avoided. That said, his fight against Dawson was hardly a robbery. A close fight, yes. Robbery? Please.
And finally...Tomas Adamek, anyone? Has everyone forgotten how Dawson soundly outboxed an undefeated, light heavyweight champ who - at the time - was thought to be the future of the division? The same Adamek who moved up to cruiser and knocked out O'Neill Bell last April?
Unfortunately for Chad, I don't see the winner of Pavlik-Hopkins going anywhere near him. Maybe Jones does if he beats Calzaghe and his only other options are Pavlik and Glen Johnson. Even then, I'm not sure. Dawson will probably look towards a rematch with Johnson.
Dawson may not be top dog but he's certainly top ten.Comment

I don't have Dawson in my top 10 as this moment. Not saying that he can't be in the future, though. He does have wins over good competition in Johnson (who is always a game opponent), Adamek, and now Tarver. I think that he is on his way towards a lb 4 lb spot, but I think there are too many other fighters who's resumes outshine his quite a bit.Comment

As far as Floyd jr. remaining retired, good for him bad for us. We'll never see the type of fighter he is in his late stages as we did with so many other all time greats. And we'll never see him fight the best of his generation. That's the thing that I think will stop him from being considered in the same vein as the all time greats.
But, health and prosperity is more important than legacy in my eyes. So I completely understand his decision.Comment
