Would Sam Peter have been knocked out in the 9th round if he didn't quit in the 8th?

I doubt it. Peter showed a tremendous chin and he took a lot of heavy rights all night. Punches that would have KO'ed most heavies.
That being said I think that the ref would have stopped it in a few rounds, but I cannot see Peter be counted out.Comment

Peter was definitely that bad, I mean an inactive fighter like Vitali could see peter's punches coming alway the way because he was slower than a lawnmower.Comment

...Well, it's Sam Peter not Sam Peters. I hate when people don't get that. Anyway, the open scoring had nothing to do with the quitting. Duva said after the fight that they knew they were behind 8-0 anyway so the open scoring didn't mean ****. His own promoter didn't use the open scoring as an excuse so get off of that ****.Comment

I'm not saying he or his corner would think he was winning, or that he was within shouting distance of getting a bull**** decision, I just think if they wouldn't have heard the open scoring, Peter would have gone out for more punishment, nothing suggested he had any chance of coming from behind, especially considering how tough of a chin Vitali has demonstrated in the past.Comment
