    Darchinyan-Mijares, History will be made

On November 1st barring a draw, history will be made in the 115 lbs class which will see its first undisputed champion since Jiro Watanabe. Hopefully this time the 'BA wont strip the winner of their strap. Boxing needs more 1 division, 1 champion bouts, and I'm thankful for all involved in this history making event. My pick is a Mijares UD.

      Darchinyan vows KO!

      Friday, October 10 2008
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing

IBF super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan is confident he will knock out WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares when they do battle on November 1st at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California. "I promise I will knock him out," Darchinyan said. "I've said that many times before big fights, [Luis] Maldonado, Irene Pacheco, [Dimitri] Kirilov - I knocked them out. When I promise I will knock someone out, I keep my promise."

Darchinyan continued, "Of course it was my dream to become undisputed champion. I'm not saying if I win, I'm saying when I win this fight - after that, I will become one of the greatest fighters from Australia. I love that idea, and I want to become one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing. [Mijares] is a smart fighter, a good fighter, but when I catch him with my punch, it won't be like in his other fights." Darchinyan is managed by Elias Nasser and lives in Sydney, Australia. He represented Armenia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and turned professional under the guidance of Hall of Famer Jeff Fenech. He captured the IBF flyweight title by defeatiing Irene Pacheco and lost it to Nonito Donaire.

I don't call it undisputed without the WBO...the WBA is the paper belt out of the big 4 now

No way Mijares gets any kind of KO

there are ONLY 2 outcomes for this fight...

              Mijares by wide decision

              or VIC KTFO Mijares

How can it be undisputed when there are 2 champs holding major belts? I understand that it's the majority of the belts, but the only time it's been all 4 was Hopkins, then Taylor at 160

                  what you mean??

                  Mijares has WBC & WBA

                  VIC has IBF

only other champ is Montiel with the WBO

I have a feeling whoever VIC or MIJARES unifies the 3... they will then go after that 4th against Mijares for a final unification of all 4 titles.

Hopkins had all but the WBO, then De La hoya won the WBO from Sturm and then he had all 4, then Taylor took all 4 from him

It's a unification bout, but it's not an undisputed champ to me as long as Montiel has that fourth major belt...
