I'm only saying that 'cause I really like Roy alot, I honestly don't think he'll go for broke and attempt to KO Zaggs...wish he would, really, but he won't. IT IS, however, possible...just really unlikely.
I'd be the happiest fat f.uckin yank if Jones stops that Calzaghe.

I'll probably get Jones' face tatted on my chest.

I'd be happy for Roy, upset for Joe. I like both fighters, and will be OK with it no matter how it goes, but I just don't see a way for Roy to pull it off without an early KO win. I just know he's capable of it, but Joe has a chin of iron and is hard to catch flush. Roy is fast enough, and has enough power to do it, but won't try it. If he did, though, I'd give him maybe as much as a 15% to 25% chance of doing it, if he really jumped on top of Zaggs from the opening bell, while he's still cold. And Roy is probably the only guy today even capable of putting Joe down, which makes it all the more sad if he doesn't at least attempt it.

How so? Roy hasn't knocked anyone around with one punch KO power for as long as Joe. He's got the speed but I can't accept he's the only one capably of knocking him down or out.

Kessler was more likely and landed, bounced off Joe. Roy doesn't hit any harder than him.

Hopkins defence and countering caught Joe well, Roy rarely picks his countering punches as well as that and is Roy any more powerful than him?

          Just don't see it.

He's the only one now with the right combination of speed, accuracy, ability and experience that would have a good chance of catching Zaggs early, with a perfect punch, getting him hurt, and finishing him off. The reason Roy doesn't throw as much, or put much steam on his punches is because it takes more energy to do that, energy that he needs later in the fight. This may surprise some, but Roy has had conditioning problems since he came back down from heavyweight, and he's become very cautious and conservative because of it.

Also, I think Hopkins, when he threw, did well enough....he just didn't throw ****. You can't win a fight with half a dozen landed punches. Hopkins is in the same boat, though worse off than Roy, in my opinion. Roy can still go 8 rounds at a reasonable pace, but not 12. And he can't even go that many rounds at Calzaghe's pace. He's got to either KO Calzaghe early, or save himself early so he can finish standing and accept the decision loss. No other way for this to end.

I see your reasoning now you've explained it, glad you have. I tend to give Roy a better chance than many, I don't think he's as past it as often made out, and Joes no spring chicken. Your right Roys still faster with his hands which could present problems, but I simply struggle to see Roy landing more than a couple of shots akin to Kesslers lethal ones. He'd need to land ones like that like 4+ times to start getting somewhere and I don't see that happening. So the 1 punch KO power he's unlikely to be there unless a perfect angle and coming in. And the likely hood of coming near that power like 5 times is also low. So I just don't see Roy KOing him, but spose could happen.

Personally I'd give Dawson, Tarver slightly, slightly better chances at KOing Joe, and still Hopkins the most as he was a complete style nitemare for Joe, intensely good defence and countering.
