Mundine vs Pintos : Officially A Middleweight

    Another Weak Opponent.

But enough to get him the winner of Sturm/Sylvester after his next fight.

Mundine is now officially a MW, so he can be taken out of the SMW rankings.

Anthony Mundine will take on Uruguay’s Rafael Sosa Pintos when he fights in Perth next month, according to the boxer’s camp.

Cornerman George Reno told the West Australian that Mundine will face the South American with a view to stepping down a division for a crack at the WBA middleweight title.

Although a rematch with Perth’s retired former world light-heavyweight champion Danny Green is still being pursued, Reno said they were now looking at other options.

“‘Choc’ (Mundine) will have this fight and possibly another and then look to meet the winner of the Felix Sturm-Sebastian Sylvester world title fight, where he should be the mandatory challenger,” said Reno, who is also Mundine’s matchmaker.

Reno described the unheralded Pintos, who has won 31 of his 33 fights, as “durable”. According to boxing website boxrec.com, he has ventured out of Uruguay just twice, once to Argentina and once to Germany.

The contest will take place at a catchweight of 73.5kg – less than 1kg over the middleweight limit of 72.6kg.

“Anthony wants to step down and should have no problem with the weight,” said Reno.

I wouldn't call it ducked. Mundine makes over a million dollars each time he fights even weak guys like this in OZ.

I doubt the Versus organizers would have given him more than 100 K.

with Bika on the card too surely that card would be worth more TV money in AUS than just Mundine vs someone nobody has ever heard of.
