Delvin Rodriguez in Line for Hlatshwayo, Paul Williams

Welterweight contender Delvin Rodriguez has two opportunities in front of him. He's been offered the chance to face WBO welterweight champion Paul Williams on November 29 on HBO. He also has a fight scheduled against Isaac Hlatshwayo on November 17 at Emperors Palace in South Africa. [details]

Probably because HBO doesn't have enough in their budget to place that fight on the November date. Two fighters who want to fight is irrelevant when HBO is not willing to place put up the money to make it happen.

Hopefully Rodriguez doesn't get gun shy after what happened to Oscar Diaz.

          i was thinking the same..

but since oscar has recover.. i dont think he will have a problem at all.. pulling the trigger...

it wasnt his fault.. it was oscar corner... so ... he can move on... if oscar would die..then it would be another story...

exactly. i dont care how bad 2 fighters want to fight, if the money just aint there, there's only so much power the fighters actually have. y so qucik to hate? i doubt very seriously either clottey or williams would "duck" the other........

besides, this article didnt state that this fight was definitely on yet. just said a deal is still possible. there's money issues in every fight, we wont know whos fighting until we get a lil closer to november. things have a funny way of working themselves out as a fight date draws nearer....however if the money still aint right, no clottey-williams.......

yes. this is what shut down a proposed collazo-williams bout that was agreed upon by the fighters....

truth is, it wont really matter......he wont have enough time to b gun shy...once that bell tolls it'll only b a matter of time. being gun shy against paul williams wont get you far, it'll only hasten the time d.r. gets ktfo........

I am a big Pwill fan. But I would rather him fight his mandatory than this guy, so he could at least be free of his mandatory until the end of next year. Dont know what happened to Clottey. It would have been a good fight. Hopefully it actually comes off and this is a negotiating ploy.
