yes puerto rico is not as poor as mexico, the amateur program in mexico is ****ty, thats why u see alot of fighters from mexico with a few losses early in in their career because they start as pro at early age, 15+
i do agree about the program issued. i was born and raise in Puerto Rico and i remember is so easy to go to a box gym and start training and become a great boxer, anyway that to explain a lots Mexican American boxer that become good because the born in USA and become good boxer ( Oscar,Vargas,Margarito)

If you all say I can add him I'll update the list and highlight all the significant fights on the list. If not, oh well, it's understood.
If you're going to add Oscar, you might as well add the other chicanos. Most of them claim to be 100 percent mexican but are born in the U.S.

Mexico vs Puerto Rico in Championship fights 35 to 41
It stands at 35 for Mexico and 41 for Puerto Rico. That is including the Oscar fights (other Mexico vs PR rivalry lists also include him). Oscar is officially a Mexican citizen. So we got the 41 wins for PR, but the Mexican wins were way off. Were now at 35 for Mexico. Remove the Oscar fights and we're at 32 Mexico, 40 PR. I've saved this to a text file, if anyone can verify anymore Mexico vs Puerto Rico championship fights please advise.

What about Juan Diaz vs Cotto?
I'll check some more fights on Mexicans/Chicanos when I'm at work. Since they are counting DLH/Vargas fights.
I'll even check where the matches were fought.Last edited by Mr. Fantastic; 10-13-2008, 04:23 AM.
