Well Pavlik beat him twice and yeah it could just be a styles thing but i know id fancy my chances against Taylor more than against Pavlik!

Pavlik has the intangibles that Taylor doesn't have.

But there are alot of fighters who would fare better against Pavlik than Taylor imo e.g Calzaghe.

Taylor probably has better skills but skills aren't the only thing that wins fights, so overall Pavlik is better.

Taylor would be tougher for some fighters, including Hopkins and probably Kessler and Calzaghe.

Pavlik would have murdered some of Taylor's opponents though, like Spinks, Wright, and Ouma.

overall i aree with you i dont rate pavlik that highly he is a good fighter and he has good power and good stamina and a real fighters heart but i dont look at him and think that talent/ability/skill/power wise he is all that.

i think the highlight reel victories over taylor and the fact that hes a white fighter who is humble yet extremly popular mean that he has a huge following. the networks and whatnot buy into the bandwagon that follows him and suddenly an average fighter is given star status.

i like pavlik he seems down to earth and modest its not his fault that a hype job follows him wherever he goes.

i do think he had taylors number, the middlweight division is a division that is severly lacking, there is no real boxing superstar there in fact i believe that is most of the top 10 p4p fighters were scaled up or down so that they where middlweights, pavlik wouldnt even be in the top 20.
