Before a home crowd in Norwich, Jon Thaxton (34-8, 19KOs) knocked out Juan Carlos Diaz Melero (36-2, 19KOs) in the third round to capture the European lightweight title. It was a one-sided fight, with Thaxton landing power shots by the pound in the first round, resulting in a cut above Melero's right eye and another inside his mouth.
