Round by Round Coverage; Night of the Rising Stars II

By Rick Reeno - Later tonight at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, HBO will present “Night of the Rising Stars II,” featuring a triple-header showcasing two of the better up and coming prospects in the sport, and a main event with two junior middleweights ready to stage a war for the interim-WBC title.

Junior middleweight prospect Alfredo Angulo (13-0, 10 KOs), from Mexicali, Mexico, riding a nine-knockout streak, faces his toughest test to date in Andrey Tsurkan (26-3, 17 KOs), a tough Ukrainian veteran from the Bronx. Angulo is often compared to Antonio Margarito because of his come-forward, take two hits to land one, style. Tsurkan is a solid test to see just how far Angulo can go, and to see if his chin is the real deal. Tsurkan has knocked out five of his last six opponents, with only Yuri Foreman lasting to the end to win a close-split decision - the only loss for Tsurkan since 2004. This fight has already been tagged as the favorite to steal the show. [details]

This looks to be a very interesting fight night. Only, I've read that Gamboa-Ramirez is the Main Event, [2 exciting unbeaten fighters]not Tsurkan-Bunema.

Bunema is hardly B.A.D. main event calibre, with 41-5 record of which 2 were to guys I never heard of.

I hope we get atleast 2 good fights tonight. If the Martinez and Anguelo fights are good I can live with watching Gamboa show off his skills and cruise to a victory. Heres to hoping we get 2 out of 3 good bouts.
