it was good...and still is but it could have ended up way better...
it was almost an anti-climax...
if things would have played out as they should have cotto v. margarito would have went on to face the winner of floyd v. oscar II in what could have been one of the top 3 biggest fights in 15 years.
instead floyd retires and leaves oscar hanging and margarito beats cotto with no one to really shoot for beyond that.
the drama was building and i was hoping to see the winner of cotto v. margarito (margarito won obviously) square off against oscar or floyd.
for me the best fights (that match up stylewise) would have been either:
cotto v. floyd
or
margarito v. oscar.
those would be megafights...
instead we have margarito on top...oscar fighting pacquiao (which is still a huge fight)...cotto basically out of the picture completely for now and no one knows when floyd will return if he does at all...
now all the excitement in my opinion is with andre berto and seeing who he goes after next and will he develop to be the next top champ at WW.
margarito still needs to rematch williams to be taken seriously as the best at WW...
cotto needs to try to avenge he loss to margarito to clear his name.
so there are a ton of fights that can be made...that is exciting...but the "playoff" between oscar, floyd, cotto, and margarito didnt work out like i was hoping... -
