    Interview: Andre Berto

Q: Congratulations on your victory over Stevie Forbes. Give us some thoughts on your performance?

AB"I put on a good performance, but I was still a little unsatisfied. I wanted to put on a real dominating performance, but Stevie Forbes is a real slick guy. He's real slick, and I learned a lot."

Q: Was there anything about him that surprised you, and what was is that you learned?

Andre Berto: He was a lot more loose up top. I saw his performance against Oscar, he was a lot more stationary up top. He was, pretty much, just putting his hands up to cover up, to block. He was a little more loose up top, he threw a lot more counter punches, and he was using his jab. I learned a lot, I should have stayed behind my jab, and went to the body a little bit more. This fight taught me how to compose myself, to settle down and box, and use speed when I have to.

Q: Were you dissapointed you didn't get the stoppage?

AB: A tad, yes, I can't lie. I was a tad bit dissapointed. My body started cramping up on me toward the middle of the fight, so I couldn't really open up like I wanted to. All in all, I thought I put on a great performance. Stevie was a real tough guy.

Q: The second round was obviously Forbes' best round of the fight. What was going through your head at that time, when you were getting hit with cleaner shots than what you're accustomed to getting caught with, while you're punching?

Q: I was still a little cold in there, for some reason. I still hadn't had the chance to loosen up. I threw a few punches and he made me pay. That basically woke me up. I went back to the corner, and told myself to wake up and get it going. From that round on, I started dominating the fight.

Q: Where do you go from here, and what's the soonest you could be back in the ring?

AB: Hopefully, by the end of the year, or the beginning of '09. I believe everybody in my weight division, that watched the fight, can see that I can adjust to any style. I can stand there and ****. Or if I'm fighting a slick boxing, I can use speed and dominate. I'm ready to fight anybody in the division. My talent goes up with my competition, definitely. I'm just ready to face them all.

Q: Luis Collazo's name has come up, tell us about that.

AB: He's the mandatory, and we'll see what happens. I heard something about an undercard, an eight rounder.

Q: Do you consider Collazo to be a step up from Forbes?

AB: I think they're pretty much the same kind of fighter, he's not as slick as Stevie. It's the same type of fighter. Right now, I'm at a point where I'm trying to fight as many different styles of fighters. I want to show people that I can fight all different types of fighters, and face them suddenly. I'll be able to go out there and overcome, beat any type of style.

Q: After the referee ruled that the cut was caused by an accidental headbutt, you seemed to get upset. Did you think the cut was caused by a punch?

AB: I was surprised, because he took a point from me. That was the thing. The ref took a point from me without even a warning, so I was surprised. I didn't know what was going on. That's what really urged me, a little bit more, to bring the heat on back to Stevie. That really surprised me, when he took the point.
