Calzaghe is not a ratings-grabber in the States. Calzaghe-Kessler did awful ratings, I think you need to check the numbers out on that fight, awful. At least Pavlik has had a PPV fight, he's around 25 years old and after Hopkins his record will have Miranda, Taylor, Taylor & Hopkins as his 4 biggest wins. Be real though, Hopkins beats Pavlik in his younger days but not the Hopkins of today. Pavlik will clearly beat Hopkins unlike Calzaghe, I still can't believe that decision. HBO was responsible for a gift decision because of Calzaghe's popularity and fan-base in Europe.

hbo thought calzaghe would be a big hit in america but his feminine windmill style never caught on in the states for whatever reason. they thought hopkins was retiring so they gave calzaghe the gift decision so they could milk some more money out of calzaghe. now that calzaghe has stated he will retire he has no hope of winning another gift decision if he fights like a clown.Originally posted by Dirk Diggler UK View PostComment

I think people like the Frank Warren "coming out" thread because of the fans that must fight, defend, plead and beg to the death for him. Who really cares? I just love how they stick up for him and then when something like this "comes out" its always...... well we knew about this and we knew about that from the start...

hbo is interested in calzaghe because of his record and looks, not because he's a huge draw. they are trying to market him to the white segment of the USA by letting him feast on senior citizens like hopkins and rjj. same thing with pavlik... they are trying to set up a collsion course between the two, but calzaghe is too much of a coward to fight pavlik.Originally posted by Dirk Diggler UK View PostComment

First of all let me make this clear, I could give a **** about what Frank Warren has to say. When did this blog become more about the gossip and politics of the sport than the actual sport ? Let's get back to the basics and talk about the actual boxer that just so happens to be 45-0. The guy wants to make some money before it's over, is that such a bad thing. I'm not saying he has the most pleasing style in the world but for God sakes he hasn't lost an organized boxing match in about 20 years. Now if you guys seriously want to dog on him about how he fights I'm cool with that, but if I hear another mentally challenged argument about who Calzaghe avoided and didn't avoid, while at the same time waxing poetic about Jones or Hopkins I'm going to puke. I know, I know, Roy beat much better competition right? I respect Roy's ability, and it was not his fault when considering the lack of competition around when he was in his prime. Sorry guys I just never enjoyed watching Roy dance around Vinny Pazienza back in the day, or beating the much respected John Ruiz. Much love for Hopkins too, but come the **** on.
Everyone with a pulse and his actual size has beaten him lately. Bernard broke the record for middleweight defenses, fantastic no doubt, hell I'll even give him credit for beating Tarver( whom I consider to be the definition of overated) but aside from that all of his big wins were handpicked. As fun as Tito was to watch he was a one dimensional fighter, and his power did not
translate to the higher divisions(see Roy Jones or Winky Wright). Bernard beat Winky but guess what he should beat Winky, I mean hell Fernado Vargas figured a way out to beat him. I think Bernard going out of his way to fight Pavlik at this stage is something to be admired, but unfortunately I see him losing, as well as Jones to Calzaghe thus setting up an enormous fight between the two winners. Translation: Biggest paydays ever for two of boxing's best with none of the earnings going to a punk ass promoter.
