No respect! This guy's defensive style and lack of KO power make him a dull heavyweight, but damn think of his resume. He has been in the ring with- Tua,Ike,Holyfield, both Klitsckos, Golota and basically anybody who would jump in the ring with him. Roy Jones Jr and James Toney both are scared to get near him and Vitali doesn't really seam to be screaming for a rematch. I think this guy could have been a hall of famer had he progressed from Lightheavyweight, to Cruiser, to Heavyweight.

You've got something here, but your missing a lot. For one thing, there's no way Toney or Jones see themselves losing to Byrd. Also, as far as I'm concerned, Byrd isn't doing himself any favors by steering all questions thrown his way to the fact that he (fortuatously) beat VK a while back, and given that that and his alphabet title makes him "the" Heavywieght champ. How can he honestly make this claim given the (far from dominant) fights he's had in the last couple of years: Holyfield, Oquendo, Galota, and now McCline. Gimmie a break... -
I like Byrd, cuz I like underdogs, but I have no illusions about his skills and deficiencies. He has a sparkling defense and fast hands. That's enough to beat a lot of guys. But someone big enough to walk through those fast hands and bully him will slap him around like a 20 dollar ho. I give him props for his skills and heart, but I can't give him too much respect as a champion...Comment

Yet Jones fought Ruiz instead. Face it Jones was afraid of Byrd.Originally posted by ChamporeenoYou've got something here, but your missing a lot. I don't see a case that could be made for Toney, but a case could clearly be made for RJJ.Originally posted by oldgringoDid you really just say RJJ and Toney are afraid of Byrd? Yes Chris would just beat them up and end their careers with those blistering power shots...Comment
