Was Magirito always a respected fighter?

As I used to be a 'casual' boxing fan, i mainly used to follow the big publicised fights., only over the last few months becoming a serious boxing fan.

So my question is... Was it the win over cotto that made Margarito a well respected world class fighter?

I remember reading that ffloyd ducked him, is this the case?
Has he always been a big threat to the WW division?

    Fill me in

    Edit: Margarito **

If you're a real fan of boxing, yeah he's always been respected. If you're a biased fanboy, he never was and never will be respected. To hell wit the part about PBF. We shouldn't be talkin bout his retired ass anymore. If you really are new and not just anotha ****in alt, you know the story on that one.

You can't always listen to who ducked who. That is 99% crap and opinion made up by fans of fighters. Margarito has always been respect among boxers. He's tried to make fights with floyd, shane, and winky. I think he's gained alot more fans since the cotto fight and is just as respected. Now the only difference is that he doesn't have to go chasing fights anymore, people are chasing him.

He wasn't respected by the boxing fourm fans.

He was respected by boxing writers and boxing fanatics.

"High Risk/Low Reward" would have been a more fitting nickname.

there was one point in his career when he was considered a low reward high risk opponent that would not allow him to get some fights. Most of ducking crap is made up by the fans dont listen to that ****. No fighter on this level is scared of another that's fighting 101.
