    Unless you have a really good amatuer backround like winning golden gloves or something international and then you will probably have a good promoter and get paid a few thousand for your pro debut

      a lot of times you'll see the guys who get brought in to lose make more money than the prospect. there's a lot of factors that go into it.

          Are your forced to have a cutman early in your career? 20 percent sounds ridiculous, especially when a cutman might suck at their job and since their barely doing any work compared to what the boxer does in the ring... Ridiculous!

            The great majority of them don't make much and have to work another job to support themselves.

            A small, small percentage of them make good money.

              Trainer = 10%
              Cutman = 2-3%
              Manager = 10 - 50%

              They might waive their cut early in your career but they'll expect you to stick with them later.

              Your trainer will typically be your cutman early in your career.

                damn thats nothing ive just finished this book called The Greatest Sport of All: Another year in Boxing by Thomas Hauser. And it had chapter on how much money Manny Pac got for the morales rematch. And damn man its a shame.

                His purse was 2 million and he got like 300k in the end. It details where all his money went from 50,000 for a translator to like 30 percent for his manager(s) and like 250k for his promoter.

                    but Money May is the type of guy who wins the lottery and goes out a buys a Horse Statue made out of gold. Thats why the IRS is on his ass now.

                      If there is TV, then you make money. If there isn't, you better be a good ticket seller or else you will find yourself on the lowest end of the pay scale. If you can cover your purse and your opponent's purse with your ticket sales, then you have a much better chance of finding yourself on a boxing card than if you think you're going to just get a free ride and someone is going to pay you to fight in front of an empty audience.

                      When you're first coming up, the opponents make much more than the prospects. The prospects often fight for next to nothing for a four-rounder while the opponent gets paid.

                      An opponent who knows he has little chance to win won't just fight a tough guy for cheap. That's why most of the money goes to them early on.
