I've always found it interesting how a large number of boxers immediately put on noticeable weight (ie visibly fatten) when out of training or retired. If they were living "normal" sedentary lifestyles instead of boxing many of them would be obese even at a young age. Weight control for these types is as much about general fitness as tipping the scales.
If Hatton retires, will he be obese?

Nah.
The thing about Hatton is he puts on a lot of weight in between fights but the weight he puts on isn't really that much compared to a normal person, if he was a normal person no one would consider him "fat" or even "obese"...it's just because he's an athlete and compared to his fighting weight the weight he puts on whilst he isn't competing appears strange to people because they aren't use to seeing him at that weight. When he retires he'll have earnt a **** load of money and will spend the rest of his days eating, drinking and still working out to keep healthy. He won't be obese but he'll won't restrict himself to maintain an athlete's weight.Last edited by Grimmer; 09-28-2008, 09:03 AM.Comment
