Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton has revealed he is willing to return to the Welterweight division in order to obtain a super fight with Manny Pacquiao or Oscar De La Hoya.
Hatton has struggled in his previous forays into the weight class, with his only career defeat coming at 147 to Floyd Mayweather Jr, faces Paul Malignaggi in his natural 140 pound weight class on November 22nd.
After his defeat to Mayweather last December, Hatton vowed to remain at Light Welterweight, however the lure of facing the winner between Pacquiao and De La Hoya may prove too great as Hatton told Sky Sports,
"Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao fight in December at welterweight and my aim is to fight the winner of that, what kind of a fighter would I be if the best pound-for-pound fighter is just seven pounds up from me and I wasn't ready to give it a go?"
But before Hatton can begin to contemplate a bout with either fighter next year, he must defeat Paul Malignaggi and Hatton believes with new trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr, father of the only man to defeat him, he is well on course to do so,
"Just look at the size of me. I'm right on my weight and feeling fit. Floyd Senior is coming over next week and he's been talking to Lee Beard on the phone. They have been working together for four or five years now so they are both on the same wavelength. They are going to show me a few new little moves and a few new training methods. I've been known for years as having the worst defence in boxing and Floyd Snr is the best defensive coach in boxing so I would have thought it's obvious what he can bring to my game."
