Paul Williams, Chris Arreola Make Statements in Cali

By Jake Donovan - Welterweights didn’t want any part of Paul Williams going in; he might’ve frozen out the middleweight division as well after blasting out Andy Kolle in less than a round Thursday night at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California. [details]

Contrary to popular belief, this first response will be about Chris Arreola, not Paul Williams. I'll say this, Arreola did what he had to do. He did look pretty fat though, needs to stop eating so much or else he'll be on the Toney diet.

I think Williams overdid it by putting Kolle out so fast (not that it looked like that was the intent). But now he's going to have an even harder time finding guys to fight him. Welterweights are not going to want to fight a guy who can put out middleweights in 1:30 without even trying. Maybe PWill can go to 154, take Vernon's belt and clean out that division. By the time he finished, young guys like Kirkland and Angulo should be ready for battle. I think either of those fights in a year or 2 would be worth watching.

He slumped that dude. After that KO, we all want to see him fight. He will end up fighting his mandatory if HBO approves it. Otherwise, he will end up fighting at 154 against Verno or Santos. Both would be good fights.
