In 2002, The New York Times[5] published a feature story in which Doug and his wife Jackie talked about ways the two keep Doug from succumbing to the extramarital temptations that come with the pro athlete lifestyle. These measures include:
- With few exceptions, Doug does not look at other women, avoiding dialogue or eye contact. Jackie explains, "Doug is allowed to look at females. I would prefer he didn't."
- Jackie often follows behind the team's bus on road trips, talking to Doug on his cellphone until they reach their destination.
- After his wife expressed uneasiness about female Toronto Raptors staff members having access to the players' locker room, Doug dressed in a separate locker room.
- Jackie insists on accompanying her husband when he is being interviewed by certain female reporters.
- The couple re-marry every year on their wedding anniversary, complete with guests and festivities.
Good lord, that is not a marriage. That's some mommy and son **** there. Doug needs a new set of balls. I wonder if she dresses him and packs his lunch box too?
that sounds like a typical Jin quote. she doesn't even have a real job. she manages shane's career. is that really a daily 9-5 kinda job? I'm sure her office is even located at home. She is a titanic *****.
Yeah. Shane hasn't fought in nearly a year. I'm sure she wasn't busting her ass.
Maybe she is referring to former heavyweight champion Leon Spinks who ended up homeless and working at McDonalds for a living...
Jin is annoying, but there is nothing wrong with what she said. She's saying she doesn't want Shane and the family to end up broke, like numerous fighters have.
Joe Louis= former heavyweight champion, one of the most beloved athletes of the 1940s, who ended up broke and being a greeter at Caesar's Palace.
Beau Jack= former lightweight champion, ended up shining shoes for a living after his career was done.
Iran Barkley= former 3 division champion. He still lives in the projects in the South Bronx
Leon Spinks= former heavyweight champion. Ended up a janitor.
Carl Williams= former heavyweight contender. Later was a security guard barely making minimum wage.
Sugar Ray Robinson= former welterweight & middleweight champ, consensus GOAT. Ended up with all sorts of money problems and kept fighting well into his 40s because he was broke.
Wilfred Benitez= former 3 division champ, hero in Puerto Rico. Last article I read about him, his mother didn't even have a real roof for her home.
Bobby Chacon= former 130 lb. champ. Ended up collecting cans for money, and living in a homeless shelter.
