I reckon Terry O'Connor is arguably the world's best ref and deserves more recognition.
When the American Peter Manfredo Jr. came over to the UK to fight Joe Calzaghe, O'Connor showed compassion and stepped in to save Manfredo from a series of savage, heavy-handed blows that may have seriously harmed him.
Yet poor old Terry received nothing but criticism. Perhaps determined to resolve this, when he refereed his next bout in Amir Khan's home town he gave Amir every chance to carry on after Amir was knocked down twice. Rightly so, as they were clearly just flash knock downs.
If only every referee was as fair and impartial as Terry O'Connor - here's to Terry!
