Oh yes. Battling Nelson was likely the toughest of them all.

A story I've posted before: Nelson once engaged in a headbutting contest. The 2 combatants had their hands tied behind their backs and then they went at it. The contest stopped when Bat's opponents scull cracked open.

Bat's toughness is legendary inside the ring as well as in lore as the story above.

The doctors at the time found that Bat didn't feel pain the way normal people do. In this way he was a certified badass!

Battling Nelson was tough from the stories I've read, several 40+ round fights you have to be tough. But has Nelson ever knocked someone out in 1 round with a broken back. Tyson = tough

I would have to agree with that, not only because of the way Chuvalo could take punishment in the ring but how he dealt with losses outside of it as well.

Tyson was knocked out several times. Bat only once and that was very late in his career.

He was stopped several times though. One time against the michigan wildcat Ad Wolgast the ref. stopped Bat when his face was a bloody mask, eyes closed and Bat came out for the round squaring off in front of one of the ringposts.
