can slow fighter take a punch better than quicker fighters?

in the trinidad vs mayorga match, larry merchant talked about a mayorga trick of letting a fighter hit him, while he could see the punch, as a tactic to discourage the other fighter.he said that mayo said, "it was a trick because, if you could see the punch coming, you could take it".so, does being a slower fighter, enable a fighter, to be able to take a better punch?
alot of slow fighters have some crazy beards, marga, baldo, andrade, etc.........

a lot of quicker fighters don't necessarily get caught flush compared to slower fighters so i don't take people like oscar into consideration.

      nah. chin is chin.

slower fighters keep their hands up and looks for punches.

fast fighters develop a habit of depending on their speed more than defense.

plus fast fighters with their movement are more susceptible to a punch they don't see coming.

I would consider James Toney a quick fighter and he can take flush shots all day

Not at all, seeing the punch coming helps, but generally a chin is a chin.

If you are a slow fighter, you only get to the top, when you can take a lot of punishment and have some other good ability

maybe its cause they get hit more often than quick boxers and thus have better punch resistance.

he was but he was more stationary, so he was hardly ever off balance.
