No-one knows. It is not clear what relationship 2008 Roy bears to 2004 Roy. Roy has managed to rack up wins over three inferior opponents, but this really says little about what would happen if you stuck him in with an opponent as good as Johnson again. These opponents might well be a smokescreen obscuring Roy's true level, after all once a fighter begins to truly decline, which Roy has undoubtedly done, it is rare indeed that they get better again after four years more worth of aging.
If I had to pick, I'd say the fact that Roy managed to avoid KO against Tarver third time around and his adoption of a more sound defensive strategy suggest that if he faced Johnson again he probably wouldn't get knocked spark out, but to be honest I feel he would cope even less well with Johnson's pressure than he did back then and might very easily lose by TKO even earlier in the fight, or at least suffer a very one sided defeat by decision.Comment

Roy was well past his prime by that point. I think the last fight in his prime was right before the jump to heavyweight. The Johnson KO was a result of trying to sit on the ropes and wait to pick off 1000+ punches the whole fight while only throwing only a few punches in between. Roy clearly was fearful of another hard shot, like the one that Tarver caught him with and did not fight near his current ability at all. If they fought now Rjj would be more mentally prepared and would defeat Johnson by a decision or a TKO. No doubt in my mind. I know Roy wants revenge and I just hope he gets a chance to get it.Comment
