thanks for the article. The 80's were the ****. I remember watching fights and getting my dad beeer from the fridge while watching boxing on ABC.
I used to watch all the fights on Abc, alex wallau and Dierdorf. Cbs, Tim Ryan and Clancy. Nbc, Pacheco and Albert. Usa tuesday night fights, albert and O'grady. Espn- bernstein. I remember all those fights on Usa network fought from the Blue horizon. A fight i still remeber for whatever reason was Tony the Tiger harrison vs. vincent Boulware and booker Word vs Anthony Hembrick.
Those were the days when a star was made right in front of your eyes. -
Yea, big difference between now and then is that fighters were BUILT and not just thrown into the big time... no offense to them, but many of the young champions we have now would have a much tougher road back then... you came up on TV and people knew who you were by the time u got o HBO...now it is a thing where many guys arent even seen by a lot of fans until their first time on HBOComment

Yeah, a lot of young prospects were on ABC or CBS where they got national exposure, they don't do that anymore nowadays, it's ESPN or Versus for a couple of fights and then straight to HBO.Yea, big difference between now and then is that fighters were BUILT and not just thrown into the big time... no offense to them, but many of the young champions we have now would have a much tougher road back then... you came up on TV and people knew who you were by the time u got o HBO...now it is a thing where many guys arent even seen by a lot of fans until their first time on HBOComment
