    If Mayorga beats Mosley, HoF?

Has he done enough? Has his performances against the absolute best not been enough? Is two weight divisions enough? Is he consistant enough? Active enough? All questions to take into consideration.

The scenario: It is September 28th, and Ricardo Mayorga is fresh off his career best KO win of Sugar Shane Mosley. He says just a few more fights, all big money of course, and he is calling it quits. Has he done enough for the hall?

    Big Wins:
    Shane Mosley KO 6
    Fernando Vargas MD 12
    Michele Piccirillo UD 12
    Vernon Forrest MD 12
    Vernon Forrest TKO 3
    Andrew Lewis TKO 5

    Minor wins or draws:
    Diosbelys Hurtado D 2
    Alfredo Salazar TKO 1

    Notable Losses:
Oscar de la Hoya TKO 6
    Cory Spinks MD 12
    Felix Trinidad TKO 8

Is that enough? I say no, but almost.

    Nowhere near.

Entertaining as hell. But nowhere near Canasota.

Nope.. because he would have only gotten one W vs a hall of famer. I don't consider Forrest nor Vargas as HOF figthers.

Mayorga beat Spinks like a child. If you havent seen that fight watch it, I cant believe they did that to him. The fix had to be in, even the ref got in on the action.

Mayorgas career as a whole is alot different then most fighters today. I mean he was just fighting for pocket money, he spent most of his career in a third world country. I always wonder what he could have done if he had the comfort and pampering of 99% of boxers today. If he had the right upbringing and management, like a DLH or RJJ. He really was just a nobody and got lucky Don King found him. Not really lucky because you know what Don wants and he is going to ring Mayorga for every cent and untill he doesnt sell anymore.

But as for in the ring. I think at a certain point every boxer takes that step up to the big time. Mayorga got his very late around 28 or 29. But unlike most, once Mayorga finally got his shot in the US he never took a step back. I really couldnt think of a boxer who has fought better competition in one 5 or 6 year span. In a time where most are business fighters looking for the easy path, Mayorga couldnt be any different. If you werent a current champion(WBC,WBA,IBF no WBO) or future HOF, dont even ring his phone.

In a span of 6 years look who hes fought.

Andrew Lewis (twice)- Current WBA champ
                Vernon Forrest(twice)-Current WBC champ
                Cory Spinks-Current IBF champ
Felix Trinidad- Mayorga fought him 2 weight classes above his best weight class.
                Michele Piccirillo-Current WBC champ
                Oscar De La Hoya
                Fernando Vargas
                Shane Mosley

I dont think anyone could fight that line up and not take a loss.
