lets talk about Vanes vs Medina on Friday...

those that saw it... lets hear your honest opinion

I saw some really good things

punchs in combo

use of a good solid jab

good footspeed

solid right hand

has a killer instinct

sat down on his shots more

I saw some really bad things

stands straight up when avoiding shots which enables opponents to catch him clean

drops his left to throw the straight right

drops his right hand to throw a lefthook to the body

gets hit an awful lot

tends to punch off of his left foot which hinders his power

overall a good performance for a prospect but he isnt anywhere near contender status yet. Considering its 154 though it wont take long

i do agree with you for the most part... we did see Medina later on at nite and one of his guys mentioned somethin like his nose was broken cuz he had a towel with him the whole time...

Vanes is boxing more but i guess its at the cost of gettin KOs huh... what can you do.

Now they can kiss and make up and talk about how good Abraham is.

Vanes is a prospect and 154 is a fairly weak division . It's not like they are gonna put him in with Santos yet.
In fact all of the 2004 Olympians have been moved rather slowly to this point.

Give Vanes time. Abraham is already there.

Yo. The guy is only 22 I think, nothing wrong with moving him along slowly. At least his last opponent was undefeated with a decent number of fights.
I bet in about a year, year and a half he will be ready for whatever comes his way. Hes fighting pretty often, so obviously hes staying in the gym. A guy at his age can only continue to improve.
