Two things about Lazcano, one Hatton didn't look that bad, he dominated the entire fight and if getting hit and even a little hurt equals a bad performance for a come forward boxer like Hatton, then I'm a monkey's uncle. Second, Lazcano was far from the bum he is made out to be. A few years back he was regarded as one of the best fighters at 135, to the point that many felt that Floyd should fight him to prove himself at the weight. Lazcano, like every boxer, got older and worse, but innate quality doesn't just disappear overnight unless a fighter is completely shot, which Lazcano wasn't. As far as tuneups go it was a fairly tough choice of opponent, being one who Ricky should beat comfortably, which he did, but who would also have enough to provide some kind of test, which he did.
