Clazaghe hasn't fought a rated southpaw in his entire professional career, let alone one that's on the skill level of Tarver, who is a natural light heavyweight with power and great ability. Now i would favor Calzaghe, but Joe against a prime Tarver would be interesting. I'd rather see Joe against Dawson.

Tarver in his prime would have been a challenging fight for Calzaghe, he's much bigger than Joe and to beat him Joe would have had to step back and box, which he should have been able to do. If he tried to outmuscle Tarver or stand in front of him he might lose, not by KO but Tarver might land the better shots and get a decision over Joe.

These days I think Tarver would look pretty bad against Calzaghe, who's speed, angles and workrate would probably see him win by a pretty wide margin.

At this stage Calzaghe would win a clear decision win over Tarver.

Had they been in their prime i wouldn't know who would win.
