Lightweight Antonio Pitalua scored a sixth round knockout over Armando Santa Cruz to claim the vacant WBC interim lightweight title at the Arena Coliseo in Monterrey, Mexico. Pitalua floored Santa Cruz in round four and finished him at 2:50 of round six. He will now face unbeaten Edwin Valero by the end of the year. The interim title was on the line because WBC champion Manny Pacquiao is committed to fight Oscar de la Hoya on December 6 and unable to defend the belt.

Very shocking stuff. Santa Cruz looked damn good in his last two fights and Pitalua has hardly fought anyone worthy of anything.

anyway i predicted pitalua to win and put some money on it since he was -350
pitalua is a tough fighter has like 13 kos in a row and hasnt lost in 7 years
i saw the fight
santacruz won the first 3 rounds but he was getting too close to pitalua, but pitalua didnt throw enough to hurt him still he managed to get him bleeding from the nose and eyebrown
anyway at the 4th round a brutal brutal uppercut connected santacruz a tko blow
somehow santacruz got up and managed to get up and win the round 5
but at the round 6th a brutal right hook connected santacruz it made him spit his mouthpiece, the ref didnt stop the fight and pitalua kept ****ing santacruz head without a mouthpiece, then santacruz finally dropped face first and dint beat the count

but valero chin aint great and pitalua could land a brutal shot
if pitalua wants the wbc title he needs to throw more punches
