His loss won't be as mediocre as AJ Banal's and Z Gorres' loss because they lost on their own turf - embarassingly. Oh and I doubt Sosa will knock Jaro out in round one 'ala Bautista.

That's how ALA fighters pad their record and fool the gullible Cebuano audience who'll go to every ALA boxing event even if their fighter is up against a patsy from Kotakinabalu. The ONLY Filipino fans who call that a victory are Cebuanos, ALA operated website Pacland and Philboxing and of course ALA's partner TV station ABS-CBN. Real Filipino fans feel disgust over such show of mediocrity.

Oh, and for your information Ronnie Nathanielsz isn't Filipino. He's Sri Lankan... used to think he was Cebuano though.

I never new there was such a division in Filipino boxing circles. How and why is that gym so divisive?

It wasn't that way really, until ALA began hogging Philippine Boxing with the help of their media/hype machine Pacland and Philboxing.com. They downplayed achievements of non-ALA/Cebuano fighters in that site, then began to slander other Filipino fighters who are making a name for themselves outside this "Cebuano sphere" (i.e. Nonito Donaire, Bernabe Concepcion) as well as Filipino promoters who are doing better than they are like Aljoe Jaro.

Louie Espinosa and Manny Pacquiao, opened the doors for Filipino fighters to invade the world, and ALA and his motley crew of pretenders immediately cordoned off that door for themselves. They rode on Pacman's popularity, got GBP contracts as well as promotional deals from local TV networks, and all they could accomplish after six years of hogging Philippine boxing is a fake champion in Nietes and a hollow World Cup of Boxing - the highlight of which was Boom Boom Bautista's impression of the drunken master. Thanks to them, every prospect coming out of the Philippines today doesn't get that much respect from the international boxing community.

To these morons, the "next Pacman" is always from ALA Gym, and according to them, Tagalogs do not have a right to talk about Philippine boxing because Philippine boxing is a "visayan" (read; Cebuano) trade. Those members that criticize ALA and/or defend Tagalogs and non-ALA boxers in that site are immediately banned - permanently.

So the next time you get a chance to watch a Filipino fighter, try finding out if he's from ALA or if he's Cebuano...if he isn't, chances are you are looking at a prospect who isn't a product of hype.
