Not saying it would, but every time the fantasy fight gets brought up people say that while George is a slow slugger and mike can get inside that george would tie him up or use his uppercut to break him down. The reason I disagree is because the reason Tyson was able to get inside was because of great head movement and staying low while doing so. Look at his hands in this video and how they are always ready for the uppercut if his opponent uses it. No way that a focus Tyson would get uppercutted to death by George Foreman
Can someone explain how Foremans uppercut would have been effective on mike tyson

Tyson would be scared period. He wouldn't have to hit him with a uppercut. Once big george showed him he wasn't afraid it would be overComment

again people often compare tyson and fraziers style but frazier bob and weave were just for the sake of doing so while there was a whole science and skill to mikes version of it. Also look how slow frazier is moving and his hand placement when he drops his head. Its just slow up and down head movement with his hands poorly positioned.Comment

Just for the sake of doing it and slow? I'd suggest you watch more Joe Frazier fights.again people often compare tyson and fraziers style but frazier bob and weave were just for the sake of doing so while there was a whole science and skill to mikes version of it. The uppercut is a punch short swarmers, stylistically, are vulnerable to. Tyson was hit with the uppercut by guys such as Douglas, Tucker, and Tillis, before an old Tyson was hit consistently with right uppercuts from Lummox.
Foreman should be effective with it. If a prime Foreman were to beat a prime Tyson, and I'd make Foreman the slight favorite, the uppercut would be key.Comment

As the Frazier video demonstrates, Foreman was very good at fighting inside fighters. In particular, he was good at keeping them at the right distance...and somehow he was able to literally push opponents away without getting much in the way of warnings or points deducted.
Frankly, I don't think the upper-cut would be his route to victory. I think he would attempt to do to him what Lennox Lewis did to an older Tyson; beat him up on the outside with jabs and straight rights. If Tyson gets alot opportunities on the inside, I'd think he wins....upper cuts or no.Comment

Lewis was very effective with the uppercut in the early going though. Especially round 2. Tyson said those uppercuts early hurt him.Frankly, I don't think the upper-cut would be his route to victory. Unlike Lewis, Foreman actually landed a right uppercut without holding the other guy's head/neck half the time.Comment
