I do wonder why Jones didn't throw all his eggs in that basket when he knocked JC down. Joe was fairly hurt initially, it was a flukey punch but it hit the target.
Joe ended that same round with Roy backing up.
Yeah, probably should of gone in for the kill there and then... but in fairness in his mind he wasn't gonna lose the fight, so after the KD he probably didn't wanna get careless and try to take the rest of the rounds after the KD, but didn't work out properly, I don't know.

Roy kinda did put all his eggs in that basket. He knocked Joe down then kept trying to knock him down throughout the rest of the fight -- going for the KO instead of boxing smartly.
I dunno if anyone's sick of me repeating myself yet but I'm gonna do it again:
To me, the knockdown looks fake as ****. Joe faked being hurt (by a forearm... come on now... who ever got knocked down by a forearm, but then went on to take massive flush punches yet barely even flinched?). Why fake a knockdown? To make Roy do exactly what he did -- go for the KO and not box smartly. If that was Joe's plan it worked like a charm.
When you stumble upon ridiculous threads (no offense, Larry) it inspires you to bump that **** up and laugh your balls off. A well-deserved bump. We should break out the Jeff Lacy -- Joe Calzaghe threads again, then we can have a proper laugh at the Joe haters.

I can't see it, man.
Watch Joe's face on some of the SSM replays, you can see his lights go out for a moment. Looks like a legit, if odd, KD to me.

Yeah, very odd. I dunno man, maybe I'm a crackpot with some weird theories but something's telling me not to believe it was a legit KD.

Was he just baiting, though, or was he straight up? Hard to tell, haha.

How anyone thought Jones was going to beat calzaghe is beyond me.
Also to SAM calzaghe didn't fake the knockdown. He was buzzed for a min, an you could tell his legs were gone until the next round.
Aye, you and MIB might be right. I'm sticking with my theory for now, though. I just can't see anyone being truly hurt by a forearm, especially when they take massive uppercuts later on and don't even get wobbled. It's just too weird.
Regardless, the knockdown was probably the best thing that could have happened because from that point onwards Roy just tried to knock Joe out, and that left Roy open to be out-boxed.
