    Roy's New 'Hot' Single...

So at the NY press conference they handed out cd's with the programs for the Nov 8th scrap. I assumed that the cd was a copy of the dvd promo that they used to open up the press conference showing highlights from the two fighters careers.

I remember thinking that the Calzaghe highlight reel was funny. At the end, they put 4 B-hop clips, two of ineffective non-landing blows, 1 of B-hop actually catching Calzaghe with a left hook, and 1 of the only highlight-reel worthy Calzaghe-thrown punch in the entire fight, a nice straight left that snapped B-Hop's head back.

Anyway, so I go to put on the DVD today, only to see the CD opens up in Itunes instead of IDVD. It has 4 tracks on it. So what are the four tracks of? Why, its Roy's new single of course. No Track titles or other info are on the tracks, two tracks have a rough mix of the new song, one has only the beat, one has only the vocals. It seems like something the engineer would give Roy as a rough copy, not something they would want to be handing out to Press as a finished product....

The song is, needless to say, terrible, but great at the same time. Roy is the man, so I usually end up liking his horrible raps eventually. In the single, he raps about Calzaghe. The beat is corny as hell with a very predictable chord progression on what sounds like it is played on a Casio Keyboard from 1993... I don't want to post the track cause of copyright issues, but here's a transcription of the lyrics....

'Roy's new single' Lyrics by Roy Jones Jr:

Starts with a mix of Michael Buffer intros and Lampley excerpts from calling Roy fights talking about his hand speed, then it cuts to similar Buffer and Lampley excerpts about Zags.... Then the beat drops and Roy comes in...

And Joe Calzaghe you done beat the rest
