    New Calzaghe interview, interesting quotes...

    With video interview....http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7624275.stm

    Calzaghe confident on hand injury

Calzaghe fully fit for Jones 'war'

Joe Calzaghe insists he has fully recovered from the hand injury that forced him to reschedule his fight with Roy Jones Jr to 8 November.

The undefeated Welshman pulled out of their light-heavyweight bout on 20 September at the Garden after injuring his right hand in training in July.

Calzaghe told BBC Sport: "The hand is 100%. The hands are great - you'll see me punching hard in November.

"I've been training hard for about two weeks, punching the pads and the bags."

In March 2006 Calzaghe fought through the pain of a hand injury to demolish Jeff Lacy to unify the IBF and his WBO crown.

"I'm 100% - I don't fight unless I'm 100%," added Calzaghe, who has been promoting the Madison Square Garden fight in the United States this week.

"I've pulled out of fights in the past, but you can't make excuses after the fight.

"Both my hands are feeling great - everything is going according to plan. I've been in the States selling the fight and I'm looking forward to getting back in the gym on Monday.

"It's going to be flat out training to make sure I'm in the best possible shape for November."

The Jones Jr clash was set to be Calzaghe's last before the Newbridge fighter retires from his 15-year professional boxing career, but the Welshman suggested he could be tempted to fight on if he was offered enough money.

"There is always an option of fighting again," said Calzaghe. "Who knows if we fight a great fight and everyone wants to see it and everyone wants to pay an absolute fortune...we can all be bought.

"My motivation is to remain undefeated and to go down in history as undefeated."

If Calzaghe does box on then a fight against WBO and WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has been touted as one possible option for the 36-year-old Welshman from Newbridge.

It is a fight that would be well received in Pavlik's homeland of the United States, but not one Calzaghe is that excited about.

"Kelly Pavlik is a guy that doesn't mean anything," said Calzaghe.

"I offered to fight him in 2006 but he declined.

"It's weird that all of a sudden he comes out of the woodwork saying that he wants to fight me, knowing that I've signed to fight Roy Jones."

The 38-year-old Jones has made boxing history by winning world titles at four weights from middleweight to heavyweight.

Calzaghe has won 45 straight victories - 32 inside the distance and admits it is a dream come true to face Jones Jr at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

The pair are big admirers of each others achievements in the ring with Jones Jr this week comparing Calzaghe to the great Rocky Marciano.

And Calzaghe believes in Roy Jones Jr he is also fighting one of the greats of the sport.

He said: "You are talking about a four weight world champion, that is unbelievable.

"I've always been a Roy Jones fan and loved his style and the way he fights

"I've admired his speed and charisma and have always wanted to fight him.

"But make no mistake despite the admiration we have for each other come 8 November we'll be wanting to rip each other's heads off. It'll be a war."
