Does Jones have the power to stop the Calzaghe?

    Simple question.

    Please discuss.

I personally believe he can stop him if he can land his right hands and uppercuts often. If he does stop him, I'd say it'll be around the 10th round.

If he lands clean, he might hurt him/drop him. But I don't think anyone is getting stopped in that fight.

Hard to say. Jones has decent power so I imagine if he caught Calzaghe perfectly flush with a power shot he could hurt him, drop him and see him take a count. Question is if Calzaghe would recover in time to beat it. Against Mitchell, he did, but Joe is older now....

        Excellent point.

        The Mitchell fight was wicked.

            One-punch KO? that's extremely doubtful.

But a concentrated attack to the body could soften him up and force a stoppage - and I think Joe is capable of being hurt to the head and body. But he does what champions do and that's why he wins. End of story.

Funny...it seems as if a lot of Joe fans who called Roy old, washed up and finished are now saying, "Don't count him out!" This will be a very interesting fight on November 8th.

You beat me to mentioning the whole ducking jab/lead right hand to the stomach.

I was going to say "the Zagmeister" but i figured ppl would ignore the thread if I put that. I forgot to take out "the"

I think he could assuming we're talking about the type of power Roy brings....I always thought roy never really had brute force KO power but rather power generated from speed and angles. He can sometimes hit people with stuff that they didn't see coming and couldn't brace for...so theoretically he COULD hit Calzaghe with something he might not see coming and that could lead to trouble...it does seem unlikely though. His handspeed isn't what it used to be.

I prefer to call Calzaghe "the zag" as opposed to "the calzaghe".

I think he can because of his speed, Jones has always been a speed equals power kind of guy, if Calzaghe doesn't see the shot coming and it lands in the right spot, he could definitely hurt Calzaghe.
