Felix Trinidad Only Open For De La Hoya and Hopkins

trinidad is the thing of the past! he should stay retired or managed good prospects in puerto rico. it is understandable he is calling out delahoya and hopkins because the two fighters still has a draw. in other words, trinidad make sure the next time he fight, he is assured of another big payday.

but fighters who deserved a big payday are those fighters who bring excitement. certainly, there is no excitement in trinidad. he should stay where he is now.

I think Trinidad is about 36 so not really all that old. And he actually did put up a good showing against Roy Jones, one of the all time greats.

I bet that in Puerto Rico, even today, Trinidad can't even sneak out of his house to buy a carton of milk without a crowd gathering. He's one of the greatest and most popular, if not THE greatest and most popular fighter ever produced by that great boxing island.

I read his comments on his reasons for coming back a while back. He said that everywhere he goes, people in cars passing by, EVERYBODY, keeps asking him when is he fighting again, to come back, not to stop, that they need him etc.etc. And, he confessed that he still gets the feeling he wants to fight.

This is a worthless article, and I'll tell you why:

-Trinidad doesn't draw people anymore. He used to, but he's worthless now; for the networks, his opponents, and boxing legacy.

-He isn't interesting anymore, because he can't fight anymore.
-If a person has made the kind of money Tito has made and they can't retire, then they have to be financially ******ed.

-His name doesn't carry any weight in the sport anymore, while Hopkins and De La Hoya can still do whatever they want. He does have to earn it, and he doesn't want to put in the work to do so. He wants to stand there and get outclassed for a paycheck. DLH and B-Hop are still competitive enough to ignore that, and they'd be right for doing so.

-Boxing is not just about the money. It's competition, and entertainment. If a fighter can't provide a good amount of both, they don't deserve to get paid for not doing a job. If I stop doing my job at work, I get fired and won't get paid anymore. That's how it should be with Trinidad.
