I dont think JMM is over rated, BUT, clearly his claim to fame, so to speak, is his competitive fights with PAC.... We would never know how good he really was because he didnt step up or at least didnt get opportunities to fight the caliber of fighters he is just recently challenging...

No in other words, if Nacho would have gotten him bigger fights, he would not be the same fighter we see today... PAC,MAB,EM, all had multiple ring wars before age 30... JMM faced minor league opponents up until PAC I, then went on a 4 year vacation, and only after PAC II is JMM stepping up...

that is true. Nacho stunted Marquez's career. But better late the never. At least Manny Stewart admitted to making Hamed duck Marquez. That would had been an interesting fight.

It's not about stepping up, he couldnt get a fight with either Barrera or Morales while Pac was busy building his career on fighting those two guys.

Thats why I said "opportunity" to fight elite fighters.... The point is that if JMM would have fought all 3 earlier in his career or at least the time PAC fought MAB and EM, plus the 2 fights with PAC, I really dont think we see the same 35 year old JMM we see today...IMO

Marquez is a top fighter and his fights with the number 1 p4p prove that, He argueably beat Pacquiao twice and gave him his toughest fights. If that doesn't prove how good he is i don't know what does.

Many would say he would be shot just like most Pac fans are saying Casa was now. The fact is though that he looked very good against Marquez. If a fighter is still fast, still countering well and pulling the trigger and still fighting hard and well into the championship rounds then he is not shot. Casa is not his best certainly, but he was not nearly shot and looked very good. If Casa looked as good as he did against Marquez if he fought Pac and Pac also knocked him out then to say he is shot would be just as wrong as all the Pac fans are now by saying that Casa was shot and old and that the win is no good.
