Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz Could Be Next

The stage may be set. Juan Manuel Marquez's eleven-round knockout of Joel Casamayor on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has set up another potential mega-bout. The word coming out of Golden Boy Promotions is that Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz (34-1, 17KOs) is the next fighter they would like to match with Marquez (49-4-1, 36KOs). Diaz's manager, Willie Savannah, told BoxingScene.com a few days ago that Golden Boy, who promote both fighters, mentioned the possibility of a fight with Marquez. Savannah is very high on Diaz meeting Marquez. [details]

I'd be all for this. Take out Diaz and Campbell and JMM has a strong bargaining position against Pacquiao (assuming he returns to LW).

I don't think Goldenboy is interested of letting the Ring Belt slipped through Campbell.. After he schooled Juan Diaz, what more? GBP won't negotiate with King.

I think both fighters can benefit from this. Diaz in his goal to re-establish himself and Marquez in his goal 4 a rubber match against pacquiao. Personally I think Diaz would be the favourite as I don't feel Marquez would be able to hold up against his relentless offence. In some ways it's a bit similar 2 Cotto-Margarito with margarito;s similar offence.

I got Diaz all the way in this one.

Marquez is very, very good, but... Diaz is one of the top talents in the sport IMO. He could be the guy to beat Pacquiao... seriously. I would LOVE to see that, and we might if Diaz gets past Marquez.

**** off Campbell, haha... I don't know how or where to include him.

I guess Pac will be busy with De La Hoya during this fight, and then Hatton, so...

The Campbell-Diaz rematch can happen during Pacquiao-Hatton after Diaz wins (if he does).

Then the winner of all that gets Pacquiao. Sound good?

Haha at anyone thinking this is how it will go... there are always ****ty matches that **** up perfect scenarios like this.

i would rather see jmm fight nate for the belts ....

diaz imho needs to be put aside for the momment, unless he goes after nate himself

Marquez would destroy diaz...i would rather see campbell vs marquez winner face diaz....by then pacquaio would be done with odlh and fight for 135 supremacy...

I think Marquez would handle Diaz pretty easily, but I'd still watch it
