I kind of fail to see what makes JMM better than Morales and Barrera.
JMM Best Wins: Peden, Juarez, Gainer, arguably Pacquiao x2, Casamayor
Morales Best Wins: Zaragoza, Junior Jones, McCullogh, Barrera, InJin Chi, Jesus Chavez, Pacquiao, arguably David Diaz, Ayala, Kelley
Barrera Best Wins: Kennedy McKinney, Morales, Tapia, Ayala, Hamed, Peden, Juarez, Kelley

I mean...I actually had Marquez winning both Pacquiao fights, but damn. other than those and a win over a little older Casamayor he doesnt have all that much. and its not an insult to him, but these guys that Barrera and Morales faced were really good.
...and dont forget that Morales and Barrera both fought at a lower weight class than Marquez to begin with.

this is getting harder and harder ...

and Erik is still my favorite among the 3 and I DONT BELIEVE HE IS LESSER TALENTED THAN MARCO OR JUAN, he just got burned out faster...

i am keeping this open, jmm has a good chance to eclipse both marco and erik, he is still on the thick of things and we will see WHAT WILL HAPPEN...

i like this thread and really any combination made you could make a great case to be right! But legacy wise i would say
          1. Barrera- the guy just could do it all! in his early days he could brawl with the best of them and destroy you. then we got a little older he became a great complete boxer and beat you that way. His 3rd fight win against Morales was one of the most impressive wins ever by a boxer. He not only boxed beautifully but it was even more impressive how he cameback from the absolute beating that Pacquaio gave him to then beat morales. i have so much respect for barrera and im sad that at this point of his career he wants to comeback but thats another topic...

          2. Morales - I hate putting him under Barrera because Morales is one of the my favorite boxers of all time but had to because i thought barrera had a little bit better resume. that doesnt take away anything from my boy Erik "El Terrible" Morales!!! you look for the definition of warrior and you will see a picture of Morales! He wasnt the most skilled fighter but man he had so much heart that more than made up for it! i think the way his career ended made some forget how great he was, Anyone who hates on morales for "quitting" against against Pacquiao is a complete idiot! He got destroyed in that fight but man i was so proud of Morales you know why because he even though he was done and pac was in his prime, morales did not change the way he fought his entire life. he didnt backdown from the stronger better fighter not he fought his fight! he pushed the fight and did not back down until he finally realized that he had no shot. i have nothing but respect and love for Morales!!!

          3. Marquez - just because i have him 3rd it doesnt mean im taking anything away from him! that just speaks volumes of the greatness of Barrera and Morales. but Marquez is getting close to having just as great as legacy as those 2 if he keeps doing what he is doing now. Overall he is maybe arguably the most skilled fighter of the 3 although i would have him 2nd behind Barrera in that list but very close! if Marquez ever beats Pacquiao i will put him #1 in this list!

3rd in 2002 and 2005. Hopkins and Roy Jones were ahead of him in 2002, and Wright and Mayweather were ahead of him in 2005. I looked it up.

he might have been rated higher, those were only the end of year p4p rankings.

                  http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph...Annual_Ratings
Boxrec's encyclopedia. its great stuff, but the stuff you find there can be deceiving sometimes. Its almost always better to judge fighters based on their footage than to look at old archives of information.
but its still fun to look through, and you can always learn a thing or two, especially if you dont have decades of boxing experience. just have to take some of the things you find with a grain of salt.
