I'm surprised that a master-egotist like Mayweather could be so truthful about something which puts his presence in a minor role. But I appreciate his honesty, and want to say that this always been my understanding, that a long experienced boxer, needs a trainer mainly for pep talks, strategy and alternative tactical talks, and to have him in his corner on fight night.

A veteran fighter like Oscar, who is fighting just for money, and isn't a keen youngster out to make his name, or train for a title, already knows from the many times before, what he needs to do to get himself fit and ready.

This is why a retired fighter can so easily make the transition to being a trainer. He doesn't go to trainer's school, he knows what a fighter needs to do from long experience.

Still, I wonder why Mayweather is so honest, all of a sudden, minimizing his part in Oscar's camp. Maybe it's becauise he feels that the mismatch is so grwat that all Oscar needs to do is avoid breaking his ankle in the ring.

If fans take any notice of this report, it could be a huge blow to the PPV figures.

Hatton says no, it becomes 'personal'.
