WBO rejects Torres appeal!

The WBO Championships Committee has denied the complaint from representatives of former 140lb champion Ricardo Torres requesting an immediate rematch with current world champion Kendall Holt. The decision reads in part:

"Ricardo Torres' representatives argued that an earlier accidental headbutt that was not called by the referee started the chain of events that ended in the knockout. We do not believe, based on the totality of the circumstances, that the July 5, 2008 TKO victory in favor of Holt in this match was controversial....and therefore the application of Ricardo Torres that we recommend to the Executive Board that a direct return bout be mandated is denied....We recommend that Ricardo Torres retain a hight ranking

I think that a rematch should happen very soon, maybe after Holt's 1st defense, that headbutt really ****ed him up

Torres and his camp need to stop bitching and come to the conclusion that Torres got knocked the **** out.

the ****ing headbutt hurt him and shifted him towards the rope. if not for that, that punch wouldnt have happened.

No doubt the headbutt hurt him a little but either way who wouldn't want to see a 3rd match? That round was ****ing insane and I would love to see a 3rd fight.

The WBO is a ****ing joke. I think Holt won legititmately, but they should give him an immediate rematch. They denied Holt one too.

very true, even Holt didn't get to fight Torres right away. he had to fight Ben Tackie first.

so I guess "fair's fair" and most likely we'll be seeing Holt-Torres 3 in middle to later 2009.

Im hoping boxing doesn't forget about Torres, he could have ko'd Holt in that round or the next. And though he may be more cautious in the 3rd fight, i think he'll ko Holt when they meet again.

I am not a big Holt fan, but Torres can't box for ****. He lives off his power and pays the price.
Don't know about the WBO in this division. I think all the other champs smoke both guys.
