    Should Khan fight Thaxton next? (After a "tune up")

    BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

    A few key quotes for the lazy ones out there

    "I had a bit of a smile on my face [on Saturday] that's why Khan wouldn't face me, he would not fight a puncher."

    Most interestingly;

    The Bolton fighter has previously avoided fighting Thaxton when he was made mandatory challenger to the British title, and again when Thaxton was declared the challenger to Khan's Commonwealth belt.

    I say he should definitely yes. Time isn't on Thaxton's side, and I imagine Khan will let him retire.

    What you lot think? Would it redeem him? I'm not trying to say he's the ultimate test for khan , but I feel he would be decent opposition.

    I think he needs more than 1 tune up. he must be feeling ****ty now, everyone thinks he is a joke. he got ko'd by a bum. he needs to get some confidence back then maybe. i think that Thaxton would probably beat him anyway.

      But this was the same Khan who belives he would fight for the world title at any given time. Confidence aint a problem for him, he has so much hangers on to tell him how great he is, I wouldn't worry about confidence. The main restriction to him in terms of who he fights is Warren. I reckon Khan on his own may well fight better opp, resulting in more losses mind.,

        Yeah but he was thinkin that before he got destroyed. He might have doubts on his chin now i know i would anyway lol.

        On his own i think he would fight pretty much the same guys. He might want big guys but his ego would make him want the lions share of the purse probably

          Good point, but he'd have to play up to his public image of "I'll ko anyone" or people wouldn't buy it. I think he;s sort of media savvy, or maybe that's franky.

          I recckon on his own he'd fight thaxton and co for more belts. Actually he'd prob call out a champ at 135 and get schooled/exposed.

          Anyway Khans career has taken a far interesting turn right now than I imagined possible.

          I wonder if he'll have like 1 fight on itv then straight back to sky box office.

            Nah..

            he signed a deal with sky so they will want to follow it. They will bill it as Khans big return and all that, put him against a bum and hype it up as a dangerous fight. slap a British title undercard or maybe Nicky Cook and ask for £15!

                I think he should have a couple of tune ups, well 1 easy fight, then 1 step up and then Thaxton. He should be able to beat Thaxton, but outboxing him. But he would have to be careful of getting caught cause I rekon Thaxton could take him out if he landed clean a few times..

                  The thing about Thaxton though is that, he is the level of opposition Khan should be stepping up to right around now, but he probably won't as he lost.
