It comes down to whether I'm wearing my boxing fan head, or my boxingscene head. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see Calzaghe outclass Pavlik, solely because it would give me a lifetimes worth of laughter and mockery to dispense *******ly on this forum. The problem is that I'm pretty sure Calzaghe beats Pavlik handily, and to be honest it wouldn't show me anything I haven't seen before. As a boxing fan, I'd be more impressed if he were to compete against the best in his new weight class because in my eyes that would be the greater achievement. Dawson, if he beats Tarver will be the most proven fighter at LHW, as well as the most skilled of Joe's possible competition, would be young and in his prime, would have a better resume than Pavlik, and most importantly, would be the boxer most likely to be able to beat Joe. This is a fight I would like to see.

I'm not sure everyone would agree, but in my eyes Calzaghe would prove more by beating Dawson than he ever could by beating Pavlik. Pavlik becomes more appealing if he beats Hopkins but IMO Dawson is the better boxer, a tougher fight and beating him would mean more.
